This would be very helpful. Currently I put extensions into the notes, but that's not very intuitive. A separate field (which also should appear on the Deal contact information) would be very handy.

Hello everyone! Thanks for all of your feedback. A two-way sync with Google Contacts is very much currently under consideration, but just to give you a heads up, this is not something that will be happening in the near future. Stay tuned here for further updates – we’ll let you know as soon as something’s in the works!

Hello Base, would it be possible to allow Pie Sync or FullContact to implement a sync? That would at least solve the pain point in the meantime. I've reached out to both of those companies as well.

@Anonymous -- yes, you can get the contact details into Google Apps and vice versa. I use this functionality.

The problem is that it's a really strange sync arrangement: Your contacts will initially sync Base --> Google, but subsequently, any changes to the contact in Base will NOT sync to Google.

Updates to contacts have to be done inside Google. But if I wanted to use Google Contacts to manage my clients, then why do I have a CRM at all?

A simple solution would be to reverse the sync -- like Capsule CRM. Any changes in the CRM are synced to Google, including deleting a contact. Brilliant! You can ACTUALLY use the CRM to manage your contacts.

Any progress on this idea over there at Base HQ?

    Mark, a few reasons:

    1) To get emails into Gmail -- for those of us who prefer to use Google as our main email client
    2) To sync to your phone contact list, so you know who is calling you

Clearly the sync itself is in demand, as Base has already implemented it. It's just implemented poorly at the moment.

In my view, the sync should be set so that Base to be the main source and, when updated, would overwrite Google contacts. As of right now it's the opposite.

This issue is really important to me, and I have been looking into what other CRMs do in this regard. Zoho CRM uses the "choose which app wins" model in case of a conflict.

Nutshell has this to say (I thought this was interesting so I'll post the whole thing here):

"Why can't I keep a two-way sync with Google Contacts?
While we continue to explore a syncing feature with Google Contacts, there are a lot of roadblocks that currently prevent this. Companies with hundreds of thousands of contacts can't effectively manage them in Google Contacts. Nutshell's clever deduplication would cause your contacts to be merged with your colleagues', and permissions can't be managed in Google Contacts.

It's not an impossible feat, and we'll let you know as we make progress on this. In the meantime, our beautiful Android and iPhone applications provide a great solution for accessing your entire collection of contacts and accounts from the road -- with rapid find-as-you-type support for hundreds of thousands of contacts."

I agree on the Google contact fields, too.

Duplicates can definitely be a pain. We’re currently looking into creating a de-duplication tool for Base that will cover Leads and Contacts. More information to come.

I see that this has gotten better recently, with the warning "John Doe already exists as a contact -- edit?"

But, I agree that there needs to be a way to mass search for duplicates. It can be a real nightmare to manually merge more than a few duplicates.

This is such a critical, and basic functionality. Base needs this!

A similar idea here, vote this one up too, if you're so inclined: http://futuresimple.uservoice.com/forums/109313-base-ideas/suggestions/4789054-ability-to-export-a-subset-of-the-database-based-o?page=1&per_page=20

Big thanks for sharing your feedback!

We agree this is a much needed feature and want to figure out how we can get this on the roadmap ASAP. It’s under review and we’ll be sure to let you know once we’ve made progress on better managing recurring revenue in Base.

    Cheers,
    Base Support

    Hi,

    Thanks for your suggestion.
At the moment, Base provides two way sync with Google Calendar for Base Tasks and Appointments.
In light of the Calendar’s more robust feature set, we believe that’s the right way to go.

    Thank you, and best wishes,

I couldn't agree more about the 2-way syncing.

Zoho CRM lets users define which app serves as the master: "In case of conflict: Zoho wins, or Google wins."

I think that is a great solution.
